Music Building
Building Description
Known affectionately as the "birthday cake building," the Music Building is home to the ASU School of Music. It houses the Evelyn Smith Music Theatre, music classrooms and practice rooms, the Rafael Mendez Library Museum, recital halls, the Music Research Facility, Katzin Concert Hall, and the Organ Hall, home of the hand-carved 1,800 pipe Fritts Organ.
History
Constructed in 1970, the building has eight levels, three of which are underground. Wesley Peters, Frank Lloyd Wright’s son-in-law, designed the building.
