Aycock Residence Hall

Building Description

Aycock is home to approximately 90 first year students. It is a co-ed dorm, with male and female students living on the same hall. Aycock is located off of the main East Campus lawn, to the right of the West Duke building.

Aycock Residence Hall is part of the Neighborhood 2 dorms on East Campus along with Giles, Epworth, Jarvis, and Wilson. Like other Neighborhood 2 dorms, Aycock is not air-conditioned, although individual units are administered under special circumstances.

Aycock is staffed by one Graduate Assistant and five Resident Assistants under the supervision of Residence Coordinator Jennah Jones.

History

The Residence Hall opened in 1914, and was named for Charles B. Aycock, Governor of North Carolina from 1900 through 1904.

Additional Rooms
Aycock also has four vending machines, a common room, two study rooms, and a laundry room, which has 4 washers and 5 dryers. There is an additional study room on the third floor.
Bathrooms
Aycock is a three-story dormitory, with one women’s bathroom and one men’s bathroom on each floor. The first floor has a guest bathroom for visitors .
