Loewll Hall

Building Description

Operated by the Office for the Arts at Harvard, Lowell Lecture Hall is located within the Memorial Hall/Lowell Hall Complex. It serves as both a classroom facility for the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and a rehearsal and performance space for student performance groups. It has a seating capacity of 352, with seating on two levels, and a large open floor which can be used for performances. The room also features a permanently installed piano.

History

Built in 1902, the building was the gift of Professor A. Lawrence Lowell and was called the "New Lecture Hall" until it was renamed to honor A. Lawrence Lowell in 1959. Due to water damage, Lowell Hall underwent extensive renovations which were completed in 1994.
