Douglas B. Gardner '83 Integrated Athletic Center
Building Description
The Douglas B. Gardner '83 Integrated Athletic Center is the primary athletic facility at Haverford. It also serves as a memorial to three former Haverford College student-athletes - Douglas B Gardner (The Douglas B. Gardner '83 Integrated Athletic Cetner), Thomas B. Glasser The Thomas Glasser hall of Achievement), and Calvin Gooding (The Calvin Gooding Arena) - who died on September 11, 2001 in New York City. The Gardner Center features the Arn and Nancy Tellem Fitness Center, a large weight room with free weights, machines, and cardio open to both varsity teams and the community. It also houses lockers rooms, courts for basketball, volleyball, badminton, and squash, as well as fencing facilities. The office of Safety and Security also resides inside the center along with many of Haverford's coaches. They Gym is designed to seat up to 1200 spectators. The Integrated Athletic Center has won praise from the Clinton Global Initiative and the US Green Building Council for its environmentally friendly construction and operation.
