Shaffer Hall

Building Description

Shaffer Hall is located on the Homewood Campus and is part of the Johns Hopkins University School of Education. It is situated in residential North Baltimore and is Georgian in architecture. The building has 5 floors and is situated next to Maryland Hall and Shriver Hall. The building was originally built as a classroom space. Today, it is still home to many classrooms, but there is also a large auditorium in the basement which is often used for lectures and film presentations.

History

The Hall was built in 1965 and is home to several administrative offices. In 1968, the building was named in honor of G. Wilson Shaffer, who was a professor of physical education from 1939-1941.
