Building Description

Allen Fieldhouse is home to the University of Kansas men’s and women’s basketball teams. With a capacity of 16,300, it is the largest basketball arena in the state of Kansas and the second largest in the Big 12 Conference. More than 4,000 seats, including many close to the playing floor, are reserved for students. It is located in the southern sector of the main campus

History

Opened in 1955, Allen Fieldhouse is named in honor of Dr. F.C. “Phog” Allen, the Jayhawks’ head coach for 39 years. It originally cost $2.5 million to build and replaced Hoch Auditorium.
