Strong Hall

Building Description

Strong Hall is a terra cotta, classic revival building in the heart of the KU campus. The 130-room building houses many offices as well as classrooms. It has housed the Graduate School and the schools of Fine Arts and Business; the departments of drawing/painting/design, psychology, mathematics, economics and philosophy; the chancellor’s and registrar’s offices; a chapel; and an auditorium. It currently houses offices of chancellor, provost and registrar, the deans of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the Graduate School and International Programs, the vice provost for information services, and other services.

History

The building was completed in 1924. It is named after the sixth chancellor of KU, Frank Strong. Major renovations were conducted in 1998
