Shriver Center

Building Description

The Shriver Center is the main student union building of Miami University. It is a very modern facility that hosts numerous students, faculty, and University guests every day. A full schedule of leisure and informational programs are planned by Shriver Center’s Program Board, including dances, concerts, movie series, coffee houses, lectures, and other special events. Shriver is truly the center of it all.

History

The original student union building was built in 1957. Called the University Center, it was designed to meet the service, social, cultural and recreational needs of the entire University community. Its many offerings included billiard room, bowling lanes, cafeteria and snack bar, music listening room, ballroom, bookstore and various student offices. The building has undergone many renovations and expansions and was named after Philip R. Shriver, the 17th president of the university, in 1981.

o 1809 Room: full-service restaurant that serves lunch every day as well as dinner on Thursday evenings and Sunday brunch
- Sonora Stop: serves a variety of Mexican entrees

o MU Box Office: provides tickets for upcoming events on campus
o Miami Munchies: Offers gift packages for any occasion
o Office of Student Activities and Leadership: in charge of over 250 registered student organizations on campus
Reservable Rooms
There are several rooms and spaces that can be reserved for events including banquets, meetings, or special functions
