Class of 1920 Commons

Building Description

The Class of 1920 Commons is the University of Pennsylvania's largest residential dining service for both graduate and undergraduate students. A typical meal ranges from $6 to $15 depending on the time of the day. However a more popular option is to purchase a meal plan. More information regarding the rates and types of meal plans can be found at the following link: http://www.campusdish.com/en-US/CSE/PennDining/DiningPlans/

History

Built in 1970 and remodeled in 1989, heroic modernism masks the unlikely link between a garage at the south end and a dining hall at the north. Slope-topped lightwells, and cantilevered stairs on the exterior designed as part of the 1989 expansion recall the sculptural late work of LeCorbusier in a building that is a part of the Superblock campus of the Harnwell era expansion.
