Klöckner Stadium

Building Description

Home to the soccer and lacrosse teams of UVA, Klockner has a seating capacity of close to 8000.

History

In its thirteen year history, Klockner has already hosted 27 NCAA championships. It is one of the most preeminent college soccer fields in the USA.

It was built in 1992 for 3.2 million dollars, 1.2 million of that coming from the German Klockner Group for the naming rights. Klockner is a consortium that specializes in materials fabrication, including one successful plastics fabrication plant outside of UVA in a nearby town.

3600 people can sit in the bleachers at Klockner, with room for an additional 3500 people in the bleachers. More have been jammed in for pivotal games. The men’s and women’s soccer teams both have exemplary records with Klockner as their home stadium.

Due to the relative newness of the facility and concentration of capital into the JPJ Arena, there are no immediate plans to upgrade Klockner.
