Gray's Review
Date Written: Sep 5, 2007Pros: Hibachi, prices, & student discount
Cons: Sometimes below average service
Review: Sakura is one of my favorite restaurants in Winston-Salem. It's so good I generally go about two times a week, and have been doing so for the past two years. It is very affordable and usually fairly speedy. While I don't eat sushi, I have heard from many friends that the sushi is extremely well-prepared and fresh, not to mention delicious, especially for the prices. Their hibachi vegetables are my favorite, but both the hibachi chicken and steak are also very good. For an appetizer the chicken maki is absolutely amazing, enough for two people. No meal at Sakura would be complete without a bowl of rice, I prefer it fried but they also serve it steamed. Their ginger salad dressing is also some of the best I have ever had, and I highly recommend it. One of the few drawbacks I have noticed on my visits to Sakura is that while the service is usually pretty good, it does vary and is not always as good as expected. But from my experience the food more than makes up for this shortcoming. Their patio is especially great for parties in warm weather. I also often order take-out from Sakura, and their drive-through window makes it even more convenient to pick up.
