Gray's Review
Date Written: Sep 5, 2007Pros: excellent traditional barbeque and friendly service
Cons: it is a little out of the way
Review: I grew up in North Carolina and, therefore, I was raised eating barbeque. Through the years I have become very picky up what barbeque qualifies as good and "real" barbeque. When I came to Winston-Salem I was determined to find a great barbeque joint to satisfy my cravings for delicious pulled pork and hush puppies. Luckily I stumbled across this small restaurants in my first few weeks at Wake Forest, and I have never ventured anywhere else in Winston-Salem for barbeque. Little Richard's serves some of the best Lexington-style (vinegar based) barbeque I have ever tasted, which is saying something since I grew up not far from Lexington. I suggest the chopped barbeque sandwich with hush puppies. If you like slaw they have 2 kinds, both of which are equally delicious. If you are a barbeque lover, Little Richard's will definitely satisfy, and if you have never tasted it, it is a great place to start. I have converted several friends into barbeque lovers by dragging them to Little Richard's. Conveniantly, Little Richard's also has a stand at Joel coliseum and no basketball game is ever complete without a barbeque sandwich.
